TESA®’s cable management solutions for the automotive industry are designed to secure, protect and soundproof cable harnesses. They facilitate quick assembly on the production line and ensure maximum durability of the vehicle against heat, friction and vibrations.

Key innovations of TESA Wire Harness Tapes

• Long-Lasting Acrylic Adhesive (Triple A®): Withstands continuous temperatures of up to 150 °C and prevents degradation on contact with state-of-the-art plastics and cables, whilst emitting very little odour or gas indoors.
• Rubber Technology: Provides very rapid initial grip, ideal for manual work on parts of the vehicle at moderate temperatures.
• Covers and Sleeves (Sleeves and Supersleeves): These are attached along the length of the cable using quick-release adhesive strips. They speed up assembly and allow the cable to retain full flexibility, so it can be bent effortlessly.
• Secure Seal (Anti-Flagging): Strong adhesive strength that prevents the ends of the tape from lifting over time or due to temperature changes.

Classification in accordance with Standard LV 312

• Operating Temperature: Classifies products into Class A/B (80 °C – 105 °C) for indoor use, Class C (125 °C) for intermediate areas, Class D (150 °C) for the engine, and Special Classes (up to 232 °C) for extreme radiant heat.
• Abrasion Resistance: Measures protection against rubbing, ranging from Class A/B (basic protection) and Class C/D (high friction and sharp edges) to Class E (extreme mechanical wear).
• Soundproofing (Noise Reduction): Assesses the ability to absorb vibrations, ranging from Class A (no reduction) to Class D (high soundproofing to prevent noise in the dashboard, doors or roof).

Detailed Applications

• 51025: Economical and quick cable bundling in engine compartments or interior areas where the abrasion resistance requirement is low or medium (up to 125 °C).
• 51036 (PV0/PV2): Bundling of cables in the engine compartment that are exposed to high temperatures (150 °C) and continuous friction.
• 51616: Heavy-duty soundproofing to wrap round cables in the dashboard, centre console and doors, preventing noise caused by impact or vibration.
• 51618: Manual bundling of cable harnesses in the passenger compartment, requiring a gentle touch and flexibility.
• Sleeve 51036 PV7: A double-layer sleeve designed to protect sections of cable in the motor that are subject to extreme wear caused by mechanical friction.
• Sleeve 51036 PV9: A single-layer sleeve designed to protect straight sections of cable in the motor without compromising their flexibility.
• Supersleeve 51036 PV6: Longitudinal bundling with quick-fit fastening strips for large cable harnesses in the engine subject to high friction and temperatures of 150 °C.
• Supersleeve 51608 PV6: Quick assembly of long sections within the passenger compartment, providing maximum noise absorption and vibration damping.
• Sleeve 68000 PV17: Heat shield for wrapping round cables that run very close to sources of extreme heat, such as the turbocharger or the exhaust pipe (up to 232 °C).
